Intensive therapy is a treatment option for individuals, couples and families looking for an opportunity for deeper examination of concerns, and faster progress. This type of therapy involves longer, or more frequent sessions taking place for hours a day or over consecutive days.
This approach can be very helpful for someone facing significant or new challenges, those who are unable to fit weekly therapy into their schedules, or for those needing longer than a hour for each session.
-
Meet with your therapist for an in-depth assessment, and receive a personalized and focused therapy plan designed for deep work on specific challenges.
Plan out the amount of sessions and specific dates needed to address challenges.
Prepare for therapy by checking your willingness to change and to experience intense emotions.
While in therapy, expect to jump right in and answer questions that will require you to think deeply, get to an understanding and make a plan moving forward.
Take breaks as needed during sessions and prepare for how you will feel afterwards (you may need some time after sessions before getting right back into your routine)
Follow up if needed after sessions
-

Trauma or grief that is complex needing more time to work through. This can be due to experiencing more than one traumatic event or a traumatic grief experience.
Complex or multidimensional concerns may need more time to explore with many layers to discuss.
Couples may encounter a relational concern that may require a therapist to guide them through, but are unable to commit to weekly therapy. The therapist will assess if this is a good fit for their need.
Families may need counseling to address conflict or communication challenges in a space with a mediator.
